Did you know otters are among the most cognitively complex animals in the wild?

These playful little problem-solvers spend hours every day foraging, exploring, chasing, and engaging with their environment. Their brains are constantly working - and they need that stimulation to stay healthy and happy.
Without enrichment, animals in managed care can develop stress, boredom, and repetitive behaviors. That’s why enrichment isn’t just a fun activity…it’s essential.
Enrichment gives animals a healthy outlet for their natural instincts.
And recently, some very energetic otters got the chance to put those instincts to work with Pounce.

Watching them leap, chase, and fully engage with the lure reminded us of something important: enrichment taps into behaviors animals were born to do. Whether it’s a house cat, a shelter pet, or even an otter, the joy of the hunt is deeply instinctual.
Safe to say…Pounce was a HUGE hit 🥹
